Full Job Description

A major political organization seeks experienced Political Canvasser to join their team on a year-round basis. In this critical role, you will lead in planning, coordinating, and executing voter outreach and engagement efforts to boost voter participation across the United States. Your responsibilities will include organizing canvasses, phone banks, and high-impact campaign events, as well as going door-to-door in targeted precincts. A key focus will be persuading swing voters and mobilizing the base to build grassroots momentum leading up to the 2024 election cycle. This is an opportunity to maximize voter turnout while being directly mentored and supervised by seasoned political operatives. Roles/Duties:

  • Go door-to-door to mobilize voters and persuade swing voters to support the campaign.
  • Execute and manage campaign rallies and canvassing operations.
  • Create and apply strategies for targeted voter outreach.
  • Join forces with campaign volunteers and staff to accomplish goals.
  • Use social platforms to enhance campaign visibility and engagement.
  • Evaluate polls and data for strategic campaign planning.
  • Discriminate information to ensure campaign messaging is tailored to specific audiences.
  • Organize and oversee volunteers for various campaign activities including phone banking and voter registration.
  • Meet or exceed set performance metrics consistently while managing stress effectively.
  • Build up a strong volunteer base and understanding of the area for Get Out the Vote (GOTV).
  • Develop and maintain a strong and trusting relationship with the county officials, candidates, volunteers, and partner organizations.
  • Report voter engagement and volunteer recruitment statistics to the Vice Chair regularly.
  • Work with the Communications Director, Data Director, and other staff, committee chairs, and team leads as appropriate to implement organizational goals across the county.
  • Schedule and recruit volunteers for regular events.
  • Work with other candidates, campaign staff, county parties, and organizations to implement a successful Coordinated Campaign.

Job Requirements:

  • Prior experience working on political campaigns or in community organizing is highly valued.
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Able to work both independently and in team settings.
  • Passionate about increasing election turnout and making a difference in their community.
  • Experience in organizing (whether paid, as a volunteer, or through internships) is preferred.
  • Full availability for the last two months before the Election is required.
  • Must be a strong trainer.
  • Ability to work long and unusual hours (weekends and some nights, especially leading up to the election) is a must.
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a team are important.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle for necessary travel.
  • Positive attitude and a commitment and passion to the cause of electing candidates all across the county.
